8 Antique and Cebu public high schools named as iSchools project recipients

The Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA) named eight public high schools (PHS) as recipients of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT)-initiated iSchools Project.

The evaluation presented by Engr. Nelly E. Mistio, PSCA ICT Coordinator and Dean of the College of Computer Studies at PSCA includes the following:
-Pascual Osuyos Memorial National High School, Antique, Philippines
-Antique National School, Antique, Philippines
-Consolacion National High School, Cebu, Philippines
-Lawaan National High School, Cebu, Philippines
-Beatriz Durano Memorial National High School, Cebu, Philippines
-Talaga National High School, Cebu, Philippines
-OcaƱa National High School, Cebu, Philippines
-PSCA-Laboratory High School, Antique, Philippines.

Part of the evaluation showed that Pascual Osuyos Memorial National High School in Tobias Fornier, Antique is a replacement to San Pedro National High School, San Pedro, San Jose, Antique. This change of recipient was made because the latter “has the problem of connecting to the internet due to the absence of infrastructure to support the said connectivity,” the report said.

As the CICT partner, PSCA will serve as the local ICT expert for the PHS in Antique and Cebu.

iSchool, a project initiated by the CICT, aims to integrate ICT in classroom instruction among public high schools all over the country.

Antique is one of the four provinces comprising the Panay island in Western Visayas having San Jose as its capital town which is a two-hour bus travel from the Iloilo City.

The Polytechnic State College of Antique in Sibalom, Antique, headed by Dr. Victor E. Navarra as College President, is the only state college in the province and offers IT courses under the College of Computer Studies. “I’m glad our school is a recipient itself because the PSCA- Laboratory high School is included in the final list,” he said.
